Converting/Adapting/Modifying Promotional Units
For most short term hire periods undergoing major conversion or adaptation of the interior of the promotional unit is unusual, our standard practice is to match as closely as possible the clients requirements with existing promotional units current interiors, any adaptations are usually minor cosmetic changes or installing electrical equipment i.e. LCD screens that will be used on the promotion.
Promotional units that are to be used for extended period or for specific high profile projects are often the units that undergo bespoke interior and exterior modification.
Where major alterations are to be made to the interior or exterior of a promotional unit we usually recommend the development of a "new" or empty unit as re-developing an existing unit can often be more expensive and fraught with unseen complications.
How Much?
One of the most popular questions we are asked is "How Much" unfortunately there is no simple answer to that question as each interior is bespoke to client requirements.
On short-term hire for minor modifications, you may decide you need the floor of the unit covered in a specific material, a display shelf in a specific location or a 36" plasma TV and DVD player installed. Under these circumstances we would first arrange for quotations for any modifications you required and upon your agreement would arrange for the items to be purchased (or hired) and installed by craftsmen, the cost of materials and labour would be forwarded to you the client.
As to "how much" the easiest way of calculating expected cost is to draw from ones own experience, i.e. the cost of buying and fitting a new carpet in a promotional unit is similar to buying and fitting a carpet in your living room, except, due to irregular layouts, it may take twice as long with the appropriate extra expence.
On long-term hire or purchased unit modifications, each unit type comes with it's own set of costs and problems, trailers up to 7m are possibly the easiest of units to develop, everything is built to order with new unit costs ranging from £7,000 - £40,000 depending upon the size and layout with an average build time of approx 13 weeks
Promotional Bus units are potentially the most difficult to modify, due primarily to inherent structural limitations of the lower deck, however that said they are a popular choice for many organisations.
Adapting this type of unit for promotional purposes involves a considerable amount of time and a number of crafts and trades, i.e. mechanics, electricians, coach builders, joiners, upholsterers, plumbers, welders, to name but a few. As for costs, a comparison on a full rebuild, would be developing an old barn to an office.
